Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
Why is there such a lag time in the data?
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, after collecting data
for a dataset from all the institutions, NCES Does some major checks and
balances on all of the datasets. If something is not correct or does not add up,
NCES contacts that institution and tries to resolve the problem. This process
is slow. Usually the lag time is not a problem, as most institutions do not
change substantially over a couple of years. If you need more recent data,
one method would be to directly contact the other institutions.
